Built and handed over: 35 articles, 64 events from 2008 to 2026, 6 albums with 132 photographs and 24 films, all migrated and checked. At handover the site had zero accessibility violations (WCAG 2.2 AA) on every page at desktop and phone sizes, 12,823 internal links resolving, complete SEO metadata on all 141 pages, and no cookies or third-party requests until a visitor chooses to play a video.
Oriental Delight is a dance school founded in 2003 by Cerasela Hekman (Kamilla). Its story was split across two WordPress sites that had drifted apart over the years. The new site replaces both and carries the whole history — articles, events back to 2008, galleries, press, prices and schedules — designed as an editorial monograph about a dancer and her school rather than a studio template, around the idea that movement is a language.
1,490 URLs across two sites, with 24 subjects published on both, conflicting schedules and prices, spam injected in 2017 and posts that only survived in the Internet Archive. Nothing worth keeping could be lost, and every link people had shared over twenty years still had to land somewhere real.
- 01Audited both sites page by page and built a full inventory of every URL, duplicate and conflict
- 02Merged 161 overlapping old pages into 27 new ones and recovered lost articles and events from the Internet Archive
- 03Settled conflicting information with the owner instead of guessing, and kept a record of every open question
- 04Mapped 1,216 old addresses to their new pages with one-hop redirects, and retired spam pages properly
- 05Designed a bespoke system in the school's own purple and turquoise, with large editorial type and scroll-linked motion
- Next.js
- React
- TypeScript
- Tailwind CSS
- Markdoc
- Zod
- Bilingual Romanian/English
- Content stored as validated data (JSON + Markdoc, checked at build time) — no database to maintain
- 1,216 permanent redirects from both old domains
- Password-protected page for the school's recorded online course
